Unicorn Ingredients sponsoring Barney & Echo for Epsom Primary School
In 2025, Unicorn Ingredients Ltd proudly began sponsoring a local community initiative by purchasing the Barney & Echo Citizenship books for Epsom Primary School.
The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain (PCCGB) is an organisation led by serving and retired police officers. The initiative was developed from officers’ first-hand experiences working with young people in their local communities. They recognised that, although there were programmes designed to support youth development, very few resources focused specifically on building life skills and promoting strong citizenship values to help reduce crime and antisocial behaviour.
Citizenship is now widely recognised by schools as an essential part of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). The citizenship programmes have been carefully created to support teachers and parents in addressing important and sometimes sensitive topics with Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils, including bullying, vandalism, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, knife crime, and other related issues.
The books are engaging and interactive, incorporating a variety of activities designed to reinforce key learning objectives. These activities can be completed during lesson time or set as homework, making them a flexible and valuable educational resource.
