All good things come in threes, and Unicorn Ingredients is proud to continue its tradition of supporting vital conservation efforts. In August 2024, we made a Christmas donation to the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) to help protect these magnificent animals and their habitats.

This donation will go a long way in halting the illegal wildlife trade in cheetah cubs and supporting the CCF team in critical activities. These include working with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) on cub rescues, training farmers and wildlife observers, and fostering community governance. The funds will also aid in researching and mapping cheetah populations in Somaliland, as well as caring for rescued cheetahs by providing food and a safe habitat. Unicorn Ingredients’ early contribution ensures its impact will be felt when it’s needed most, marking the third consecutive year of this meaningful partnership.

In December 2021 we supported the purchase of a live stock guarding dog. To this day we are following the story of the dog Jenny and regularly receive new information about her. At the beginning of December 2024 we received the latest update about her.

Jenny is pictured here enjoying a shady spot, making the most of a heatwave! She’s thriving and proving to be an incredibly hardworking dog on the model farm.

Her top priority is protecting her goats and sheep, but her dedication sometimes causes challenges for the team. Jenny has a knack for chewing through her fencing to get to work or respond to potential threats near the Kraal.

Because of this, the team keeps a close watch on their determined and special canine protector.

In other exciting news, they are hopeful that Jenny will welcome her first litter of puppies early in the New Year!

This year's Christmas donation supports the preservation of cheetahs in Somaliland. Here the population decreases by around 300 animals every year due to conflicts with farmers and illegal wildlife trade. The goal is to care for confiscated cheetah cubs and to finance Somali and international employees.

This year, Unicorn Ingredients was among the partners thanked in the CCF's New Year newsletter. We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the charity and are proud to support their important work through regular donations and by promoting their activities wherever possible.
